Karel van Laere works with the tension between the human body and technological systems. He keeps asking fundamental questions that form the foundation of his projects. Karel reflects the contrast between the small, domestic, and familiar and the feeling of being far away in a global environment.

Karel van Laere (1988) lives and works in the Netherlands. With a mixed background in performing and visual arts, he works in a multidisciplinary way. Collaboration is key to his practice. Over the years, he has worked with professionals from many fields—surgeons, firefighters, dancers, actors, a massage therapist, an anesthesiologist, a hypnotherapist. These collaborations offer new perspectives and help his work reach diverse audiences.
